Turn Trash into Treaure
Join us for the first workshop in the Fayetteville Arts Coalition's DIY series! Thursday, September 21, 2017 6:30-9 p.m.
The recycled book class teaches a variety of beginner bookbinding skills, and students will leave the class having created a small blank journal with a recycled cardboard cover. Skills learned include creating folios and signatures, cutting a cover, punching sewing holes with a jig, and sewing the book together. Participants are asked to bring cardboard to use for their covers (the thickness of a cereal box or soda box works best), otherwise all materials are provided. Recommended for ages 12-99.
Instructor: Amy Jackson
Amy earned a BA in Fine Art from Longwood College, with a concentration in Printmaking and Book Art. She worked as a bookbinder for five years with Cat Tail Run Bookbinding in Winchester, VA.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and no refunds are available less than 24 hours before event.
