A presentation by Ed McMahon of the Urban Land Institute in Washington, DC, a nationally known leading authority and inspiring speaker on how communities are harnessing tourism and the arts to drive their economic revitalization. The goal is to educate and motivate area residents and business to create and maintain a "Gateway Community" as envisioned and defined by the Appalachian Regional Commission to capture and service tourists and other travelers on their way to other destinations and entice some percentage of those to stop and consume goods and services.
